Senior Scientist- Protein BiochemistryMy client is an exciting start-up focused on novel technologies for the characterisation of proteins. Their aim is to create faster, cheaper and more accurate assays utilising novel chemistry and fluidics technology.
They are seeking an experienced biochemist to join their biochemistry team, supporting product development through the testing and appraisal of existing and novel biochemical methods. Role responsibilities include:-Establish a rigorous testing regime for the evaluation of established protein biochemistry techniques
-Transfer protein biochemistry approaches to a microfluidics environment, including immunoassays, protein binding assays and protein characterisation experiments
-Report findings and suggestions to the design and engineering teams for further action and development
-Establish testing procedures for the company's novel technology
-Benchmark performance of novel technology against conventional methods
-Validation of reagents for use in this novel technology
-Production, recording and analysis of data for technology evaluation and technical literature
-Drive product innovation through evaluation of scientific literature, attending of seminars and monitoring of market activity of competitors
-Presentation of findings and results in peer reviewed publications and national or international conferencesThe ideal candidate will have:- PhD in chemistry/biochemistry/biophysics (essential)
- Significant experience within the development/optimisation/troubleshooting of protein biochemistry approaches (essential)
-Excellent understanding of protein biochemistry (essential)
-A proven ability to generate, record and analyse large datasets in an efficient, reliable and accurate manner (essential)
-Experience in statistical analysis would be a distinct advantage (desirable)
- Extensive knowledge or experience in microfluidics (desirable)
- Excellent communication skills and work well within small teams
- A strong attention to detail
