My client is a leader in drug discovery and development based in Cambridgeshire. They specialise in small drug molecule discovery utilising their novel screening system.

Due to continued success and exciting new projects, they are seeking an assay scientist to assist in the drug discovery process. The candidate will be experienced in assay development for the screening of small molecules. They will work within a multi-disciplinary team taking projects from hit identification to lead optimisation.

Responsibilities of the role include:

Plan, develop and carry out screening assays for individual drug targets and small molecules

Plan, develop and carry out reporter assays for small molecules.

Be well-versed in a variety of molecular biology techniques including but not limited to: human cell culture, cloning approaches, transfection, microscopy techniques, lentiviral work and protein characterisation.

Take initiative in the investigation and implementation of novel assay techniques.

Liaise with other teams within the company, sharing knowledge and expertise.

The ideal candidate will have:

PhD in Molecular biology or related with strong experience in a research environment, preferably in industry. BSc or MSc with significant relevant experience will be considered (Essential)

Proven track record in assay development and high-throughput screening (Essential)

Knowledge of the drug discovery process (Desirable)

Strong team-work skills, communication skills and an excellent attention to detail (Essential)
