Job Purpose: The role is to manage both the antibodies business unit and the biological products business unit. There is great synergy between the existing departments. The role will require the job holder to manage both units in line with the requirements of the company and the ASPA regulations. This job contributes to organizational success by: * Ensuring budgets, schedules and performance requirements for the department are met * Direct line management responsibility for all department employees * Provides technical leadership and support for the team * Contribute and deliver the services strategy * Responsible for the health and safety of the department staff * Define implement and maintain an appropriate staffing stricture * Lead and encourage a continuous improvement culture * Measure performance by defining, implementing and reviewing key performance indicators. These should be relevant to the business area and in line with overall company goals and objectives * Control expenses and ensure there is an awareness of expenses by all team members * Behave in a conscientious, professional manner at all times. A Laboratory Manager is expected to lead by example and create an environment conducive to this Job Requirements: * IAT level 2 at a minimum * Home Office modules 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 * Normally requires a degree in a relevant subject, preferably a post-graduate qualification in a relevant subject and a minimum of 6 years relevant experience * Practical knowledge and use of computer systems * Practical knowledge and understanding of quality systems (i.e. ISO9002) * Proven supervisory experience with the ability to coach, mentor and train * Question and constructively challenge customer requirements * Is accountable for long term decisions and implementation of plans to achieve results * Commitment to continuous professional development * Anticipates and leads the need for change to achieve business objectives and goal
