Experienced R&D Technologist required from materials, composites, rubbers, latex systems, emulsion systems, elastomers, paints, adhesive chemistry, surface coatings, polymer chemistry, and aqueous dispersions

Job Title: Research and Development Technologist

Salary £35,000 - £40,000 Negotiable dependent on experience

Location: Merseyside

SRG is working exclusively with a well- established company who are part of a global business with manufacturing units in the Far East, UK and Canada. The company is part of a larger group and world leader in the manufacture of specialist materials, predominantly for the automotive industry. As a result of their continued success they are looking to hire an experienced R&D Technologist to strengthen their current R&D team. The role would be suited to someone with significant experience in a detailed and all-encompassing R&D role working with relevant materials.

Benefits: 37.5 hour working week with flexibility and option to do extra hours for an early Friday finish, good pension scheme up to 8% employer contribution, 25 days holiday + 8 public hols, recognition scheme and further development available to all employees.

The position will require the candidate to:

Direct and contribute to R&D:* Inventing and patenting* Optimisation and experimentation* Product develop for lower cost/increased margin

Manage Suppliers* Identify new suppliers* Identify alternative materials - for higher performance/lower cost

The role would be suited to someone hands on, able to manage multiple projects and willing and able to work alongside production to support the production of the product, as well as at the bench.

Required

Strong scientific background in Chemistry or Materials Science with relevant degree or higher qualification

A specialism is preferred in at least one of these:

* Rubber technology* Latex technology* Composite reinforcement by glass fibre* Adhesive chemistry* Paints/Surface Coatings* Polymer Chemistry/physics, rheology

Proven industrial experience required including:

* Ability to design experiments, analyse and invent* Ability to deliver presentations and write reports* Team working* Commercial awareness* Customer focus
