Shift QC Technician required, based in Manchester. Requiring a higher qualification in Chemistry, Polymer Science or other relevant discipline, paired with a strong work ethic, good problem-solving skills and a self-motivated attitude.

Title: Shift QC Technician

Location: Manchester

Salary: £17,500 - £23,500 per annum (dependent on experience) + shift allowance

SRG is working with an established company at the forefront of innovation in their field, whose products are used in a wide variety of items from household objects to automotive components. As one of the largest colour additive manufacturers in the world, they are now looking to add new team members to their busy QC laboratory and as such have an immediate vacancy for a Shift QC Technician. The role would be ideal for a recent Chemistry or Polymer Science graduate looking for their first role in industry, or maybe you already have experience of physical testing and colour-matching.

Benefits: A successful company experiencing continued growth, offering an opportunity with full training provided. 8-12 week training period on day shifts (9am-5pm), before moving onto 4 on, 4 off shift pattern. Shift will be 12 hours long, 7am - 7pm. Offering 25 days holiday allowance, plus 8 statutory days. Other benefits include a company pension scheme and annual bonus.

Role / Description

  • QC testing of raw materials, in-process and finished products to evaluate physical characteristics including colour, structure, geometry and composition
  • Operating and understanding all necessary laboratory equipment
  • Performing pre-manufacture tests and issuing formulas to production
  • Adhering to SOPs, safety procedures and general laboratory housekeeping policies
  • Communicating with appropriate personnel on product status


  • Higher qualification in Chemistry, Polymer Science or other relevant discipline


  • Previous experience in physical QC testing on chemical products
  • Good mathematical skills
  • Self-motivated and pro-active, with a willingness to learn
  • Good communication skills and a positive approach to solving problems
  • Strong work ethic

This role would be an excellent opportunity for a recent Chemistry or Polymer Science graduate with or without industrial experience OR someone with previous physical testing/QC experience in the chemical industry.
