Senior Electronics Engineer - Medical Device/ Bespoke Manufacturing - Northampton - Permanent SRG are working with a small and rapidly growing biotechnology business who manufacture for the medical industry and other highly regulated industries. We have a new and exciting opportunity for a talented and hands-on electronics systems engineer to join their team.The suitable candidate will be electronically adapt and have experience within embedded systems, you will be responsible for the design, development, system integration and test of specialised systems. The clients environment is very fast paced and so the ability to work quickly and precisely is required. Whilst it is ideal if you have a strong skill set in electronics design and testing, graduates with 2-3 years experience will also be considered if willing to acquire the skills mentioned. A large amount of the clients customers are based overseas and so the successful candidate must be prepared to travel overseas for short periods.Job summary* Design and develop new electronic hardware/firmware * Testing of electronics and systems* Develop electronics hardware using FPGAs, DSPs and embedded microcontrollers* Be willing and able to modify boards, and build prototype assemblies and cables where practicable to do so in-house* Design and test embedded software using C, C++ as well as Python* Schematic capture using CADstar* Specify and manage PCB design using external contractors* Working with customers and partners to understand and capture functional requirements of systems, draft specifications and ensure designs meet these and can be tested, supported and maintained.* Travel to customer's site to commission and provide training when required* Provide material for design reviews and take responsibility for implementing review recommendations in a timely mannerQualifications:* Good degree in electronic engineering or physics * 5+ years experience in electronics design* Good interpersonal skills, effective team player* Flexible to occasionally travel to customer and partner locations* Experience of working with CCD and CMOS imaging systems* Good lab skills and a keen interest in electronic assemblyProfessional knowledge:* Ability to design, debug complex digital and analogue circuits* Analogue electronic design, especially fast data acquisition* Experience of FPGA development using both Altera and Xilinx toolsets* C, C++, Python* Schematic and PCB design using Cadstar would be an advantageWork experience* Minimum of 5 years experience of successful design work:* Proven ability to manage own project successfullyCompetencies:* A desire to improve performance, to set and meet goals* Flexible* Follows own initiative when required* Customer orientated* Can work within a team as well as soloIf interested please send an updated CV or call 0161 868 2236 for more information.
