Mechanical Integration Engineer - Brompton-on-Swale, North Yorkshire, - Permanent £Comp - Consumer Electronics and Others
SRG are working with a unique and interesting manufacturer who revolve their business around touch-sense technologies such as robotics and touch screens. Working directly with customers and other engineers, the Mechanical Integration Engineer will provide mechanical integration technical support, designs, stack ups, and mechanical models to sensor application projects from initial concept to mass product launch. S/he will be a key contributor in the mechanical integration of all sensors into a wide variety of commercial projects, reference design prototypes, and mass production designs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* Works with customers and other engineers to define product specifications covering mechanical integration and functional requirements* Manages the design of mechanical elements into sub-assemblies and products to specification and within required timelines* Creates tolerance stack up drawings and other mechanical integration instructions to effectively integrate sensors into a wide variety of products, from mobile, tablet, consumer electronics, gaming, robotics, industrial, medical and automotive control electronics * Build prototypes and/or defines the mechanical integration design so that prototype engineers and technicians can repeatably build prototypes to spec.* Works with production team in prototype and production phases to improve design and manufacturing processes as necessary to ensure products meet customer expectations* Supports development of processes in UK and overseas production facilities* Develops and conducts tests to ensure product fit for purpose, robustness, and reliability * Key contributor to implementing and maintaining international quality standards* Travel within the UK and overseas will be an integral part of the role, it is expected that overseas travel may account for around 25% of the role. This travel will primarily be to the Far East.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE* Experience taking products from start-up phase through to mass production for high volume markets* Any one of Automotive, Industrial, and/or Consumer Electronics design background also a plus-either a focus in one area with a broad set of solutions, or a breadth of experience across the different markets* Experience in designing printed electronics structures (3D structures formed by screen-print and other additive deposition processes) a plus* Design and modelling experience, creating and or using finite element analysis (FEA) models to accelerate time to successful solution and better define characterization experiment parameters* Auto CAD proficiency * Proficient in FMEA and 8D in product qualification and rapid field-failure analyses* Good understanding of International Quality Standards
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR LICENSES* Qualified to a minimum of BSc level in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, and/or * 3-5 years' experience in product development engineering and/or mechanical integration engineering* Experience using modern, computer-aided design and modelling software to design and test ideas* Experience designing electronics modules for human machine interfaces, such as control panels and membrane switches; experience integrating touch screens and other physical interfaces into hand-held or fixed electronics devices* Track record of coming up with new integration ideas, the innovative use of materials and adhesives to integrate mechanical components into a range of devices with tight manufacturing tolerances (25-250 microns)* Familiar integrating plastics, metals, thin glass and other materials with different mechanical properties to meet fine manufacturing tolerances and maintain fit when exposed to heat and humid conditions* Experience using data collection, failure and statistical analysis tools and
