The Chromatography Section comprises several teams of analytical chemists testing food samples for chemical contaminants and nutritional components using chromatographic and mass spectrometric techniques. Most of the work is short term although some contribution to longer term research projects is also undertaken.
To undertake all contaminant analyses by LC-MS/MS and GC-MS/MS techniques and associated activities within the section.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Carry out analysis of foodstuffs and materials related to the food industry, according to client instructions, within agreed timescales. * Review and witness Chromatography methods against with an agreed schedule to ensure correct methodology, quality and practise are followed. Ensure that training is effective and correctly documented. Proficiency failures are followed up quickly.
Qualifications and Competencies
* Degree or equivalent experience in the field of analytical science* Experience using Microsoft packages - word/excel/outlook/PowerPoint* Experience working within an accreditation scheme* Proven effectiveness in managing timely and cost-effective delivery of technical services/research outputs.
* Ability to work without supervision.* Flexibility to undertake many tasks and prioritise own workload.* Ability to negotiate with potential customers and develop new business
