Salary: £24,000 - £26,000

Would you like to work amongst some of the UK's most talented scientists in a global company providing innovative products to a wide range of industries? Would you enjoy working autonomously, conducting your own experiments and reporting on your findings? If so, we'd like to hear from you.

SRG is working with a market leading, global organisation, whose products are used in a vast range of industries/products. Well established, with new laboratories and equipment they are looking to hire a Chemist or Materials scientist to join their R&D centre of excellence, based in Manchester. If you are genuinely passionate about chemistry, can demonstrate this and enjoy experimentation, this is the role for you.

The role:

Working alongside more experienced scientists you will:

Research and develop compounding application formulations and then generate data to support customers

Physical testing including: Gas fading, tensile strength, UV stability, ageing studies, extrusion &rheology and surface colour analysis

Undertake small scale compounding and injection moulding, including characterization of mechanical properties

Design and execute laboratory experimental programs

Write detailed reports on investigations and present data using excel to demonstrate effects observed and conclusions drawn

Supporting customers by developing new formulated solutions

In time you will establish yourself as an expert in on or more polymer applications

Required

* BSc or MChem - Chemistry or Materials Science preferred* Industrial lab experience preferred - chemicals or materials - full training given so new graduates welcome to apply* Passionate about chemistry, able to demonstrate technical knowledge* Good communication skills - Written and spoken* Able to use Excel to at least intermediate level
