Supplying to a diverse customer base across the globe they are now looking to expand their technical team by hiring a degree qualified scientist who has some metallurgy experienced gained either in University or through work. Working alongside and being trained by a more senior chemist, the role would suit a new graduate or someone looking for their second role in science. Equally if you have good working experience in metallurgy and would like to apply, we would like to hear from you. This is a small company, and as such the role would suit a hands on chemist comfortable with a mix of duties and some physical work.

Benefits: This role will be well suited to a graduate chemist who is looking for their first position within the Chemicals industry. Full training & support will be available with this position working alongside an experienced team. Working hours will be 08:00 to 16:00 with a 15:30 finish on a Friday, other benefits will include 25 days + public holiday's annual leave, contributory pension & private healthcare scheme.

The Role:

This will be a varied, hands on role which will be based both in the lab and on the production floor, duties will include:

  • Sample cutting and preparation
  • Measuring nickel plating thickness with an optical microscope

  • Creating certificates of conformity
  • Maintaining traceability
  • Performing simple titrations to maintain plating lines
  • Producing Nickel plating Chemicals
  • Assisting with R&D
  • Any other ad hoc lab work as required by the Senior Chemist

Required:

  • Degree in Chemistry, Material science or a similar field
  • Knowledge of metallurgy either through studies (university modules / projects) or work experience
  • Self-motivated & Willing to learn
