Development Chemist specialising in Building Chemicals for Lancashire based company, offering long term prospect of Technical Manager roleJob Title: Development ChemistSalary: £30,000 - £35,000Location: LancashireSRG is working with a business specialising in the development and manufacture of powder based building materials. As a result of their continued success they are looking to hire an experienced development chemist to join their small but growing site in Lancashire. This is a business critical role, involved in the management of all R&D processes. The role will report to the Operations Director and would be suited to an experienced chemist with a background in cements, renders, wall insulations, sands, powders, silicones or similar products. The successful individual will have a strong scientific background and the potential to lead others in the future. The job holder will have full responsibility for research and development, technical service and in the longer term, regulatory matters. The successful individual will eventually assume the Technical Manager's role.Benefits: Genuine opportunity for an experienced development chemist to take the lead in a small but busy laboratory, with a view to undertaking a Tech Manager's role in the near future.The role: In a company of around 30 staff and reporting to the Operations Manager you will:* Lead and oversee research and development - specific products include: Cementitious materials, insulations, renders, sands, powders and silicones - development, formulation, re formulation, applications, testing etc.* Provide technical input into manufacturing processes and products including attendance and facilitation of manufacturing trials* Provide technical and sales support to customers/distributors - both written and in person via meetings* Be prepared to support on and learn relevant regulatory requirements and support quality * Ensure provision of technical advice throughout the business* Direct research into new and ongoing product development* Keep up to date with competitor products and industry trends* Carry out market research and maintain awareness of industry/customer requirementsIn the longer term, this role will involve travel both in the UK and overseasRequired:* Degree in a relevant science subject - Materials Science or Chemistry preferred or qualified through experience* Strong commercial acumen and customer focus with the ability to accurately interpret customer needs* Product development and application knowledge essential - previous back ground working with Cementous materials, powders, renders, silicones etc.* Leadership skills/desire to lead in the futureIn return the company are offering genuine career prospects, private healthcare, 5 weeks holiday + public hols and flexibility around working day.
