Temporary Laboratory Technician required for a 4 week contract covering paternity leave, based in Tameside. Requiring some lab based experience, from a university or industrial environment. HPLC and GC experience advantageous.

Location: Tameside

Salary: £9.88 - £11.43 per hour, dependent on experience (paid weekly)

SRG is working with a global manufacturer of speciality chemicals, supplying to a range of industries. They are now looking for a Laboratory Technician to cover a 4 week period of paternity leave starting Thursday 9th August 2018. The role will involve carrying out essential laboratory activities and wet chemistry analysis on samples. The position would suit a recent Chemistry graduate seeking work experience or perhaps someone with existing industrial analytical experience.

Benefits: Weekly paid opportunity, start date Thursday 9th August. Working hours of 37 hours per week, with either an 8am or 9am start, Monday to Friday.

Role / Description

  • Preparing solutions for various analytical instruments
  • Calibrating instrumentation across the site
  • Processing and emptying retained samples
  • Recycling chemical storage and glassware for reuse
  • Disposing of lab waste
  • Running references on HPLC and GC equipment
  • Running product samples against a range of specifications

Requirements

  • Laboratory experience gained from university or an industrial laboratory environment
  • Practical experience of wet bench chemistry and an understanding of lab health and safety
  • Any experience of HPLC or GC would be advantageous
  • Practical experience with microbiological testing techniques including media preparation, membrane filtration and culture counting

This role would be an excellent opportunity for a recent Chemistry graduate looking for experience or someone with lab-based industrial experience looking to return to work.
