SRG is working with a marketing leading, privately-owned company specialising in the manufacture of inks for a wide range of industries. As a result of their continued growth and success they are looking to hire a hands-on, mostly laboratory based, Technical Manager to manage and lead the technical team. This role would be suitable for someone with a strong background in the chemical industry, specifically in inks, paints, pigments and who has a proven background of managing a team, whilst providing technical support and driving efficiencies.

Role / Description
The role will be split into 3 key areas:
Heading up all R&D activity and supervising 5 technicians - must be able to formulate from base ingredients using first principles as will be hands on in laboratory for approximately 60% of time researching and developing inks in response to orders and customer requestsRaw material evaluationOverseeing QC TestingOverseeing QA activitySeeing the product through from inception to production and troubleshooting all issues throughout the cycle
Managing a team of 5 technicians, allocating workloads, working on improvement of efficiencies and undertaking performance management activities including regular reviews and appraisals.Undertaking cost evaluation/budgeting activity
Supporting the sales process with technical information Site visits to customers to provide technical support, attending manufacturing trials etc.
Previous experience in inks, paints, or pigment dispersion - able to formulate frombase chemicals, and understanding of industry test methods
People management experience, evidence of improving efficiencies and driving change
Enthusiastic approach to problem solving
Good communication skills
