Are you an experienced scientist with a background in protein chemistry? My client are a large multi-national biotechnology company looking to enhance their production of in-vitro diagnostics by analysing the root cause of manufacturing defects. As an expert in protein chemistry you will analyse protein chemistry, stability and purification and will take ownership of investigations into these factors. This is an exciting position for a suitably experienced candidate to gain further industry experience and develop an understanding of industrial IVD troubleshooting.

The successful candidate;You will be degree educated in chemistry or biochemistry preferably with a higher degree or experience in the IVD industryYou will have practical experience with protein chemistry including gel electrophoresis, western blotting and mass spec.You will have strong problem solving ability You will have worked on projects where you have had to apply statistical analysis, problem solve issues and also write reportsYou will have leadership skills where you have had to train more junior members of staff and/or perform performance reviews

The role;Based in laboratories in the west Midlands you will look at issues within the manufacturing of immunological IVD devices and provide troubleshooting to protein chemistry assays.You will complete reports into reported non-conformances within the manufacturing process.You will instigate and complete change orders following improvement activities to allow the incorporation of changes into manufacturing.You will help mentor junior staff to increase their scientific knowledge.You will ideally have knowledge of working in a regulated manufacturing facility and understand the requirements of GMP/GLP, and also have a background in method development.
