Laboratory Technician required, based in Greater Manchester. Requiring practical laboratory experience, ideally in wet chemistry, physical testing or QC.

Title: Laboratory Technician

Location: Greater Manchester

Salary: £18,000 - £22,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

SRG is working with a well-established company who specialise in the development and manufacture of high performance, speciality fluids for a range of industrial applications. They are now looking for a Lab Technician to join their technical team based in Greater Manchester. The role would suit someone with previous laboratory experience, ideally gained in a manufacturing environment.

Benefits: Long established company with a good reputation in their market, offering a permanent, stable role with good long term prospects. 39 working hours, worked from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Thursday with a 4pm finish on Fridays. Occasional QC shift cover required (6am-2pm or 1pm-9pm). Offering 20 days holiday allowance, which increases with length of service, plus 8 bank holidays. Auto-enrolment pension and annual bonus scheme.

Role / Description

  • Undertake laboratory testing of lubricants to determine tolerances, measure against international standards and update technical literature
  • Conducting test methods in accordance with SOPs
  • Recording results of laboratory work
  • Maintaining the lab, equipment and associated systems.
  • Preparation and processing of samples
  • Safe handling of hazardous materials
  • Supporting R&D and QC as required


  • Previous practical laboratory experience gained in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Experience of fluid testing, physical testing, wet chemistry techniques, viscosity, density, etc. will be considered advantageous
  • Self-motivated and pro-active, with a strong work ethic
  • Able to take initiative
  • Good attention to detail
