Application Scientist (Electrochemistry)



Salary - negotiable on experience

  • Annual bonus of 5% of salary
  • Contributory, salary sacrifice, pension scheme up to 5% of salary25 days of holiday (increasing to 28 days after 3 years of service)

We are looking for a R&D scientist with experience of planning and conducting research projects within chemicals, water or a related industry. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the R&D team developing new products and building the scientific knowledge base of the organisation. This is an exciting opportunity within a growing company who are changing the market space.

  • Plan and conduct experiments for one or more R&D projects in line with agreeddevelopment plan
  • Participate in scale up and optimisation of new products ensuring a smooth transitionof technology to field trials
  • Support R&D trials of new products at customer facilities
  • Evaluate raw materials, develop specifications and collaborate with Procurement to develop raw material supply
  • Provide regular project updates on progress to the line manager as required
  • Conduct risk assessments and COSHH assessments within R&D
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures especially relating to product development and Health and Safety
  • Liaise with third parties and strategic partners to deliver specific projects as required
  • Develop a strong collaborative relationship with other internal functions fostering an environment of knowledge gathering and sharing
  • Build and maintain a strong scientific understanding of technologies in company market space

Candidate profile

  • Experience of planning and conducting R&D projects, a proven scientifc backround in design and R&D activities
  • Proven new product development experience taking novel concepts to commercial success
  • Experience of chemical formulation testing and development (desirable)
  • Excellent understanding of basic laboratory techniques such as titration and chromatography, and other wet chemistry techniques (in water or waste water, is a distinct advantage)
  • Analytical and methodical approach to problem solving
  • A self-reliant, results orientated, energetic, flexible individual with a strong attention detail and team working ethos
  • BSc Chemistry (minimum)
  • Experience utilising electrochemical techniques and chemical analysis (a distinct advantage)
