A new exciting opportunity for a Senior Sensory Scientist to join a world-leading beverage manufacturer.

You will have responsibility of leading the delivery of the sensory science programmes and sensory projects for SS & KLIX.

Main responsibilities:

  • Consult & advise the wider R&D community, providing support & recommendations for factory testing for NPD and product improvements
  • Support with reviewing competitor products & maintain level of understanding within the team.
  • Lead the development of technical expertise within the R&D department by initiating own activities to plug knowledge gaps & by recommending activities.
  • Coach junior members of the team, driving engagement and promoting an innovative and learning culture within the team.
  • Provide project management leadership on KLIX & Single Serve (SS) projects liaising with wider teams, recommending methods, reporting & recommending output.
  • Design, write & continuously improve internal processes & standard methods for sensory.
  • Continuously improve own technical expertise, keeping abreast of new sensory methods and statistical methods
  • Lead research projects relating to Multidimensional Sensory Science, Competitor evaluations, Range Reviews, Preference Mapping, Kano Modelling and Proficiency Testing
  • Review and implementation of new sensory methodology.

To be successful in this position you must have:

  • Expert knowledge of sensory discrimination and descriptive profiling methods and statistical analysis
  • Experience of relevant sensory software packages e.g Compusense, Senpac, Excel Stat
  • Good attention to details with strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
  • A great teamworker with excellent communication and facilitation skills
  • Good personal sensory skills, especially around tasting
  • Creative and inquisitive, with enthusiasm and passion for their work

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree qualified or equivalent in Food Science or Food Technology, must include Sensory module
  • Extensive industry experience as a Sensory Scientist

Other requiremnets:

  • 30% Global Travel
  • Full UK Driving Licence
