Maintenance Engineer Job Opportunities

Maintenance Engineering Jobs

Welcome to our deep dive into maintenance engineering jobs. We work with top engineering professionals across many niche disciplines within the sector, whether they are as clients, as candidates looking to start their careers or well established engineers looking for their next challenge or contract. Here we deep dive into Maintenance Engineering. Find out how we work, discover key trends and take a look at the roles we have in this fascinating area.

What is Maintenance Engineering?

The discipline and profession of applying engineering concepts for the optimization of equipment, procedures, and departmental budgets to achieve better maintainability, reliability, and availability of equipment. SRG focuses on the areas of food science, pharma manufacturing, medical devices and chemical production.

What are the key trends in Maintenance Engineering?

According to Engineering UK’s report published in 2018, engineering generated 23% of the UK’s total turnover. There are some emerging technological advances that have changed the shape of the economy toward an hourglass shaped economy resulting in the expansion of knowledge intensive services.

It is the digital disruption of the product engineering and manufacturing process which will have the biggest impact on the sector. Most engineers will be seeing both concepts of digital twin and digital thread in action on a daily basis as companies look for ways to improve efficiency and serviceability. The ability to have a complete digital record of a product throughout its lifecycle will help with product design. Skillsets of maintenance engineers will, as a consequence, evolve to adapt to this digitalisation trend. Augmented reality is now allowing engineers to pull products from the screen into the real world, to scale, to form and to the relationship with its intended environment. It could be used for manufacturing work instructions, service procedures as well as product design and development and sales and marketing.
